We won’t claim that our parents were pioneers in tourism but their decision in the year 1968 to convert the farmhouse into a hotel and to shut down the agricultural production still deserves our full respect.

While in the course of time so many things have changed, the roots and the importance of the estate and the farming still persist. We are very glad to gain for example our own drinking water, which is healthy and contaminant-free and – for the moment – sufficiently available.  

As we feel responsible for the environment and the nature, we give this precious resource back to nature after having it used. We therefore have our own biological water treatment plant on our own piece of land.

As ecological awareness is not only important and basic for the water but also for the atmosphere, we heat with our own wood and therefore avoid needless transportation routes and the CO2 emission of expensive heating oil. At the same time we cultivate our forest in a natural way and thereby have a hand in the protection of nature and landscape.

As we are also the owners of the surrounding meadows, we are able – with the help of 2 farmers of the Ellmau valley – to cultivate the fields carefully and close to nature. As we work on our fields biologically and without any chemical fertilizer, our guests can admire beautiful blooming meadows with many small animals.
